NPTF SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Duane Heglie and the Nez Perce Trail Foundation
Two scholarships, each in the amount of $500.00, will be awarded to two Native Americans.
These NPTF Scholarships will be awarded at the Tamkaliks Celebration & Friendship Feast this
coming summer, July 22-24, 2016. We hope that these scholarships will help further our cause
of promoting cultural understanding, appreciation, pride, education, scholarly advancement,
and success.
NATIVE AMERICAN applicants: ($500.00 Scholarship)
Qualifications for Native American applicants:
• Intention to attend an institution of post-secondary education, full-time, for the fall term of 2016.
• Of Native American descent
Questions for Native American applicants:
1. In what ways do you benefit from participation in Native American cultural events?
2. What are the strengths and weaknesses of the educational program for Native Americans in your
area?
3. If you are selected for the scholarship, how will it benefit your community?
ALL APPLICANTS must also include the following with their application:
• Two letters of recommendation
• Personal resume not more that 300 words, prepared by the applicant, including:
• High School or College GPA; SAT scores or other similar information
• Voluntary community activities, leadership activities, etc.
• Employment history
• Education opportunities beyond High School
• Transcripts of all academic work in high school or post high school
• Typewritten answers to the following questions (answers should be no more than 50 words each)
Application Deadline: June 30, 2016
Selection will be based on the completed application and will be at the discretion of the
Scholarship Selection Committee.
